Soft Maple Lumber

Soft Maple (Acer Saccharum) is a medium to large size tree that originated in North America. Soft Maple wood has sapwood that is grayish white in color and heartwood that has a brown to dark reddish brown color. Soft Maple wood is generally straight grained. Soft Maple wood is only about 75% as hard as Hard Maple wood. However, Soft Maple has average bending and crushing strength, but has above average steam-bending properties. Soft Maple lumber can be stained and polished to an excellent finish. Some uses for Soft Maple lumber include cabinet making, furniture, molding, paneling and turnings.
