Hard Maple (Acer Saccharum) is a medium to large size tree that originated in North America. Hard Maple wood has sapwood that is white to creamy tan in color and heartwood that has a brown to dark reddish brown color. Hard Maple wood generally has a straight grain, with a fine, uniform texture. Other characteristics of Hard Maple lumber are that Hard Maple is hard and heavy, has good strength properties, and has a high resistance to abrasion and wear. Therefore, Hard Maple wood is very desirable for flooring. Some other uses for Hard Maple lumber include cabinet making, furniture, molding, paneling and veneer.
