Kiln Dried Lumber

Stacks of kiln dried lumber

Cook Lumber has the resources to kiln dry large quantities of lumber. Each of the three kilns on site at Cook Lumber has the capacity to hold 40,000 board feet of lumber. The kiln drying process usually takes somewhere between 2 to 4 weeks; depending on the thickness, species, starting moisture content and the outside weather. In order for the lumber to be considered dried, the finished moisture content must be between 6-8 percent. Here at Cook Lumber we aim for 6 percent finish moisture content. Once the lumber comes out of the kilns we have a full time licensed lumber grader to sort the lumber by grade.
